【Nocturne: Exhibition Introduction】
Don’t Stay Up Too Late!
“Dance the Night Away” has given us a chance to sort memories of the first time we went to a nightclub or danced on the dance floor for the first time, but we also know that this is not everyone's memory.

“Dance the Night Away” is 2byWu&Chen‘s point of view on the electronic music dance scene in Taipei, and it is also a re-examination of ourselves aside from daily design work. Through two photographers and DJs who have been active in photography, fashion creation, and night scenes in recent years, Mambo Key, Chien-Wen Lin. Using their lenses and different perspectives, they recorded the details of Taipei’s small but vibrant scene.

Through the aspects of “nightclub dance hall”, “DJ and performance”, and “dancing people”, this photography exhibition outlines one rarely mentioned part of Taipei’s contemporary and underground culture. However, since surging RAVE dances in the late 1990s, nightclub scenes from Europe and America in the 1900s, and until recent years, with labels such as Smoke Machine and Organik Festival. The development of Taipei nightclub scenes has become even more diversified. The Taipei nightclub scene has evolved a rare texture and freedom in other Asian countries, a pioneer in ideas, macroscopically interpreting and implementing life in Taipei after midnight. More importantly, no matter how late the time is, the dance floor will always be the same. There will always be newcomers who come to join in and will not hesitate to do so.
Remember Your Way Home!

The photographs in “Dance the Night Away” accurately portray scenarios in modern Taipei and capture the city’s unrestrained appearance during these times. Four “Dance the Night Away Talks” with speakers from various backgrounds but with strong opinions will be held every Thursday at 20:00. Through the speakers’ varied views, we attempt to gain a sense of the intriguing and dynamic environment of Taipei’s dance venues. Finally, every Friday and Saturday night, from 18:00 to 22:00, the first electronic music party at the historic bathhouse site P_L_A_C_E will take place, inviting contemporary charismatic producers and DJs in Taipei. These dance nights include photography, DJ performances, and viewpoint sharing so everyone can participate. This is a dance floor, and you dance as you create.

Thanks to the two photographers, every DJ, every speaker, every person who participated in the production of the exhibition, and those who participated in the Taipei dance night scene, it is not only a pause in expectations but also a retrospective view of everything. Looking at each piece of “Dance the Night Away”, we also seem to use these images to outline and recall the many nights we lived in Taipei. This is more than a resting point. It is the catching of breath before a hike towards higher expectations. All these deemed it unforgettable.
